Additive Manufacturing:Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is a rapidly growing technology that is changing the way products are designed and manufactured. Unlike traditional manufacturing methods, where materials are removed from a larger block to create a specific shape, additive manufacturing builds objects layer by layer using a variety of materials. We are at a point in the industry that Hobby and at-home 3d printing can produce consistent high quality items - both practical and fun. I provide a brief overview of the most common methods of additive manufacturing.
Filament:Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing filament is the material used in FDM 3D printers to create three-dimensional objects layer by layer. These filaments are typically thermoplastic polymers that become pliable when heated and solidify when cooled, allowing them to be extruded through a nozzle onto a build platform to form the desired object.
